The Baby is 10 Weeks...I've Read 10 Books

How many posts have I created about books?  I just can't get around it. I love books. I love to read.  And in fact, I recently found myself feeling frustrated. Tired of cleaning. Bored with cooking. Wearied with the heat. Wandering around the house aimlessly while boys were napping or happily occupied elsewhere.  I repeatedly opened the refrigerator, or wiped off the counters, or flipped through a magazine, or checked email, or looked at my bookshelves. And nothing really satisfied. Is it geeky to feel, "I just need something to read."

I finally reserved a few books at the library, ordered a couple new books and looked at my reading wish-list.

So...
Since Truman was born I:
finished reading I Dared To Call Him Father by Bilquis Sheikh
read Raising a Modern Day Knight by Robert Lewis
read The Reading Promise by Alice Ozma
read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp
read When Heaven Weeps by Ted Dekker
read Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider
read The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Real by Neta Jackson
read Her Mother's Hope by Francine Rivers
and started Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places by Eugene H. Peterson

Along with that I have been feeling the need to follow up on the Read Through the New Testament in a month, so I started a Read Through the Old Testament plan. The pace of the NT reading was a little too fast for me, but I understand the benefits of reading the text straight through in order to get a broad overview.  I found this one-page printable table with check boxes for reading through the Bible in a year. To me, it's helpful to have a division of chapters pre-set and to have check boxes...because, as much as I resist Check-The-Box Living and Check-The-Box Spirituality, I am truly a Check-The-Box kind of girl.  At any rate, I'm working on the OT...I'm still in Genesis...I don't want it to take a year.

What are you reading this summer?  Any recommendations?
