Gingerbread Making

Each Christmas season I try to keep a list of special things my family and I want to do.  Now, more than ever, if we don't intentionally set out to conect with one another and share some joy with others, it doesn't happen.

A few of the things on our list this year include:
See the Zoo Lights
Make gingerbread
Have hot chocolate
Fill an Operation Christmas Child box
Make paper snowflakes
Drive around looking at lights
Have a fire outside and make s'mores

We are off to a good start and we made gingerbread last week.  The America's Test Kitchen has a yummy recipe using molasses, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger and lots of spicy ingredients.

Calvin was an eager helper.

Our dough ended up a little too sticky to roll and cut with a cookier cutter, so we smashed it into a gingerbread man shaped cookie sheet.

We've been reading different versions of The Gingerbread Man.
So the man HAD to have a raisin eyes and buttons.
Calvin got inspired and made some more gingerbread man paper cut outs.
And did I mention that our gingerbread was very yummy!

Do you have any Must-Do Christmas activities?
Anything new on your list this year?

Absolutely!! There are many but here are a few -- you must wear a Santa hat or silly headgear at least one during the season -- when caroling or delivering goodie baskets/presents works well :-) Of course looking at the lighted tree with all the lights off is another. Cousin Beth
