Zoo
Andrew was wearing an Elephant shirt on Monday so he inspired us to head to the zoo. (Which inspired me to put Truman in a Horton elephant shirt too.) Andrew also wanted to take the wagon, which turned out being a nice treat for us all.
It was nice and early before it got too hot. And it wasn't very crowded.
This was our first visit to see the elephants in their new habitat. I thought the habitat was beautiful and the walking paths, displays, interactives and shade trees were all so nice.
I haven't learned the names of the new elephant family, but there was a nice display giving information about each one. They were very active and every time I put my camera away I missed a good picture. Here these two are walking away, but it wasn't long before they came back.
An elephant was in the water two different times! I thought that was pretty exciting considering I had never seen either of the two other elephants in their water area. Once we were standing right at the yellowish-brown fence on the far left of this picture and the elephant was reaching over the rock wall toward the grass. Up-close-and-personal!
And as we were leaving a trainer was in the enclosure showing off the elephants, but we needed to move on.
Just in case you need to know the weight of your family in comparison to an elephant...this display was way more fun than it should be! The three boys and I weigh 270 pounds! Fun stuff! (Nice shade)
Kimberly, just wanted to give you a little update about the lions and a peak at the elephants.
I'm sure we'll be back to the zoo soon with more pictures and more to report!

Truman noticing the otters!
The mama lion and one of her cubs...now almost a year old.
Daddy lion is sleeping in the back.
Another cub sunning on the rocks!
A cute cub asleep near the food...perhaps that's the male??

Our girls like both of the Dr. Seuss books that feature good 'ol lovable Horton so I figure they'll probably enjoy the film too. :)
