Grand Canyon, AZ to Ogden, UT
Day
#2 of driving was the longest of the whole trip. We drove from the
Grand Canyon, through Page, into southern Utah, through Kanab, over the
pass on scenic SR-14 near Zion to I-15. Then North on I-15 through almost the
whole state of Utah arriving at Willard Bay near Ogden long after
sunset.
Most of our pictures were taken from the car. Our stops were usually for eating and fueling. But late in the afternoon there was an emergency, get-out-of-this-car-and-run-off-some-energy-before-I-lose-my-mind stop.
Some remnants of the Grand Canyon heading into the Navajo Indian Reservation.

We stopped in Page to buy some shoes at Wal-Mart for Truman. He had only been walking for a couple months. Of course I packed shoes for him, but since he never wears shoes at home...or anywhere we go...I just pulled out the shoes that fit all the boys when they started walking....and they were too small.
The dam at Lake Powell.
Looking back at Lake Powell. Like all the lakes we encountered on this trip, it's low.
Aspens along SR-14
We came upon an accident. Everything was being cleaned up by the time we arrived and we didn't learn any details, but Andrew mentions this ambulance quite often when recounting events from our trip. He had me take a picture of it. Then we followed it almost all the way to Cedar City.
Most of Andrew's pictures look something like this...
Or this...
Or this...
Regardless, Southern Utah is very beautiful.
And isn't that a nice sight!
One of my favorite things is seeing exit signs that say "Ranch Exit." Maybe one of these days I can live in a place marked only by "Ranch Exit." Unfortunately, I neglected to get a picture...or maybe I tried and it is just out of the shot on the right...or on the left. Those cameras are sometimes finicky!
Calvin took these photos of the golden grasses. Also in Southern Utah.
After this, there weren't many pictures taken the rest of the day. As I mentioned, it was a long day and I can only assume that we were in Survival Mode, which is not very conducive to the art and beauty of photography.
Comments
Wal-Mart is small because because they only speak "Navajo" in this store. Spanish is not allowed.
