What We Wouldn't Have Done
When we told people we had a 5 day pass to LegoLand they were surprised and skeptical that we would "need" 5 days. In fact, we spent one afternoon with family friends and one afternoon at the beach. And the park closed at 5:00 because it was the off season. Other than that we did, in fact, spend our 5 days in LegoLand. They were slow walking, easy going days filled with what the kids wanted to do.
Here are a few of the fun things we did that we wouldn't have done if we didn't have 5 days.
Chima 4-D show. The little ones would not have liked this experience and I didn't like the content, but the big boy and I got to experience 4-D.
Calvin and I rode the waves. Calvin and Andrew rode the waves. Calvin went by himself again and again. No lines made it fun and possible!
The Hideaways - This huge tree house-type climbing area was fun for all the boys. Calvin spent a lot of time running around in there. There were multiple levels, rope ladders, slides, obstacles, stairs, swinging bridges, and many ways in and out.
Dino Dig - A big sand pit with three sets of dino bones buried in all that sand. Three boys with a bucket and a shovel and a paint brush each. I've probably said it before, but a boy with a shovel can spend a lot of time in the dirt.
Took the Safari Trek again (in a different car!).
Played ball-wars with air guns and air cannons on two levels for an hour .
Calvin signed up for a Lego Robotics class. The robots were already built, but the kids had to use the computer and input simple instructions to make the robot do its tasks. In this scenario he had to make the robot pick up blue blood cells, cut through a clogged artery and launch some pills. It took us a few frustrating minutes to understand what he was supposed to do, but after that he would have made his robotic-winning-Aunt Katie proud.
Success!
Outside the Robotics studio...a little Lego Einstein for inspiration.
We spent over an hour on two different days building cars and racing them. Calvin loved to build.
They both loved to race.
These two worked together!
And Truman's favorite part was pushing the button to start the race.
It was a great trip all around. I loved having enough time to feel unhurried. This was especially good because: sometimes it felt like we moved slower than molasses, sometimes it felt like we were herding cats, sometimes they just wanted to do the same thing over and over and sometimes they just needed to do something that wasn't over-the-top stimulating.
A big thumbs up for LegoLand and the LegoLand Hotel from this family!
