I Love Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and today did not disappoint. We were in the country at my cousin's farm with a majority of my dad's side of the family.
Isn't that a pretty serving table? Nothing too fancy, but a lot of good home cooking there. My Aunt Mary K always makes homemade rolls. My Uncle Bruce always cooks the turkey and cornbread stuffing. My Grandma always makes cranberries. My Cousin-in-law Marti always makes chocolate pie. My Cousin Beth always makes pecan pie. (And even though she was 400 miles away, she still arranged for a pecan pie to appear on the dessert table!)
We were talking about how everyone has their "staples" so we always know what to expect. Good thing, because I always like to make something new. This year I made mashed sweet potatoes from the America's Test Kitchen cookbook. They were yummy! And I made a fruit salad so there was a healthy option on the table! ha
There were 28 of us this year. We use paper and plastic. We don't light candles with all the kids running around (9 this year). We usually have some friends or co-workers or class mates join us. We usually play games. We always pray.
My cousin and her niece.
Some of the youngest 4th generation with the eldest 1st generation. That was a good seating arrangement!
Look! A carmel apple as big as Andrew's head!
Can you tell that he's saying, "No! You 'dit yous own!"
Another cousin with my Truman.
My newest Cousin-in-law with Truman. He was such a happy boy and was passed around a lot today. Look at those cheeks! You would never know he didn't stuff himself on turkey and pie!
A mommy picture with a sleeping baby.
I love orchards. The straight rows suit me.
Eleven pies! ELEVEN!
A local school does an auction each year, so some of those are $400 pies!
I made sure to savor every bite!
Leaves changing color.
A fire.
Four-wheelers.
Family.
What could be better?
Tell me about your Thanksgiving!

This year, I brought Apple Crisp to one event and New York Cheesecake to another.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving.
