Mother's Day

The only thing I wanted for Mother's Day was a family photo. We had exactly one photo of the four of us...the classic one in the hospital with me holding a newborn and daddy standing behind the bed. The baby is now 6 months old, so I thought it was time for another one! Nothing fancy or professional. Just the four of us in one shot. My husband pulled out the tripod and snapped this right before leaving for church. What do you think? Happy Mother's Day to me! I am so totally pleased!

What's in Your Book Bag?

Thanks to The Happy Housewife I am inspired to share my Book Basket. I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 6 month old. We go to the library every couple of weeks and bring home about 10 books. We usually select books from the children's picture book section. My primary criteria for selecting books? I flip through them and if there are too many words on each page I put it back. I am also particularly swayed by illustrations, but I am hard pressed to describe the attributes that specifically appeal to me. Here's what we have this week: A Garden of Opposites by Nancy Davis - Cute illustrations and a concept that my son is starting to get. Lots of simple words for practicing phonics. The Whole Green World by Tony Johnston - I loved these illustrations, especially the illustrations the encircle the text. Marsupial Sue by John Lithgow - A great actor and a good children's author. A fun book with a nice message about being who you are. Animal Stackers by Jennifer Belle - Interesting conc...
