If You Water It...

Image
There are times when you are preparing for something and you don't even know it.  Those are the times when you start hearing the same message repeatedly from all directions.  Bible reading, blogs, devotionals, friends in passing and the news of the day...they all seem to say the same thing. This is the message I have been hearing and reading and seeing before my eyes for several years now.  And I am convinced that there is a scriptural truth embedded in it.  If you water it, it will grow! For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And does not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth It shall not return to me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Well, That Was Poor Planning

Image
Except for the books, that was poor planning on my part! Strawberries planted yesterday.  Basil planted on Monday.   But here's what it looks like when there is a little snow in the desert. He was cold and grumpy.  Perhaps because he didn't want to wear pants and had wet mittens.  We're not really outfitted for cold here in Sunny Arizona.  But that's ok because in two days it will be sunny and warm.    A little hot apple cider will make everything better.    This boy enjoys it all!

Just to Keep In Touch

I started to send a couple individual emails to keep in touch with friends far and near.  For the sake of speed, however, I'm sure everyone in ether-space is interested in what we've been up to here in Sunny Arizona.  Andrew got it in his mind that he wanted to make a Blueberry Pie.  I told him we needed a lot of blueberries....6 cups.  So he saved exactly 6 blueberries for the pie!  Needless-to-say we made a trip to the store for 99 cent blueberries.  I used the America's Test Kitchen recipe for blueberry pie and the crust.  (That's for you Kimberly and you Grandpa.)  Good thing Tyler didn't marry me for my crust-making-ability!  (Need some tutoring from Cousin Beth and Aunt Mary K.) I received this stack of books in the mail today, so this little picture is for Michelle and all my book group friends.  If you knew what a grin I had on my face while pulling them out you would know I am a bookworm....

The Great Seal of the State of Arizona from three floors above in the historic capitol building. We got to be on the floor with Uncle Ted for the convocation, Pledge of Allegiance and the points of personal privilege where the kids were introduced.  Many desks are graced with the representative political symbol... Elephant or Donkey! Calvin drew the elephant for Uncle Ted.  In the Speaker's seat with the Great Seal above.
