Summer Recap #1

Image
Our summer has been full of little things.  In fact, I started keeping track of all the "little things" because it felt like we weren't doing anything!  We didnt' take any trips.  We didn't have any company.  We didn't spend a fortune.  We stayed home.  We took little trips around town.  We tried to stay cool. And I downloaded Picasa and learned how to make these cute collages. Here's my first attempt. We borrowed a couple science books from the library, kept a list of interesting ideas on the refrigerator and bookmarked fun science from the internet.  Not to mention simply enjoying the world around us and the crazy nature of Southern Arizona. Most of the kids around here are back to school already or will be later in the week.  We'll start in less than two weeks, so sadly, we are starting to wrap-up summer...and trying to cram in all the stuff we wanted to do.  Stay tuned for more Summer Recaps.

My blog has a bit of an identity crisis.  Am I a craft and garden and recipe blogger.  Or am I a kid and family and homeschool blogger.  Or, on the intellectual side, maybe I am a book review blogger or a contemplative Bible studier blogger.  Or perhaps, I just blog to keep family and friends updated on my little life.  All of the above and probably a few more, too. This week, I have sewing on the brain.  I planned an "enrichment activity" (AKA a sewing project) for my Texas-friend who had never used a sewing machine.  We happily sewed away an afternoon and a morning.  We made a simple potholder using a few different sewing techniques and tools. We made a potholder like this one.  Which, by-the-way, I made when my Colorado-friend was visiting.  In that scenario, she was the one teaching me.  So we are all learning and sharing and paying-it-forward in a crafty sort of way.  We sandwiched a square piece of batting between...

Comments

I am an inexperienced blogger. I write sporadically. I use a free blogging web-site.  I have not done a tutorial. I have not attended a blogger conference.  And I have had at least three reader's comments "lost" recently.  I am so sorry about that!! I do not know why this is happening.  I have double checked all my setting to allow comments. Even anonymous comments but the problem seems to persist.   Today I have made a small change so that the comments section will pop-up in a new window instead of at the bottom of my site.  Maybe this will help.   If you make a comment and it doesn't appear, please let me know.   Or just forgo all the blog-related-comment-mumbo-jumbo and email me directly!   I like hearing from you.
