Dress A Girl Around The World

You are invited to Dress a Girl Around the World We'll be sewing pillowcases into dresses Wednesday, August 31 beginning at 1:30pm at my house Send me a note for directions and details The pattern for the dresses are very simple.  You don't need anything other than the most basic sewing skills.  Please bring a sewing machine if you have one.  I'll have at least one exta. You will also need the following supplies: new or gently used pillowcase thread 14-inches of ¼” or ½” elastic 32-36” of doublefold bias tape I'll have: scissors safety pins thread ruler sewing pins My good friend, Michelle made a dress with a group of ladies at a her mom's sewing machine shop. Lots of inspiration!

Winter Maternity Clothes; Week 28

My sister and I have two boxes of maternity clothes that have made the rounds for our combined six pregnancies. Those boxes have also been loaned to at least two other moms for three pregnancies and many items came to us used. We would like to think we are frugal! My two boys were due in September and October, both warm weather months in Arizona, and obviously preceded by many months of warm weather. Two of my sister's kids were also born in the summer, so we have an over-representation of sleeveless shirts, capris, knit tee-shirts and so on. So this is the first time I've actually been able to enjoy the few long sleeved maternity clothes. Here are a few highlights from Pregnancy Week 28...the week it was 20 degrees in Tucson.

Tell me I am not alone in the struggle to find a well-fitted bra. I had an afternoon without kids so I stopped at Kohl's knowing I could be in a dressing room without the door being flung open at an inopportune time. I probably tried on 15 different bras in four different sizes. (Maybe I don't know my size...or maybe the size is a mere suggestion??) I could not find any correlation between sizes and common bra problems such as puckering, pooching or cutting off the blood circulation to half my body. Finally after finding one that fit well I thought it might be nice to have two different colors. I tried them both on because I'm on-to these bra manufacturers. Sure enough, they fit differently. Anyway, I ended up bringing two new bras home...two different brands...two different sizes. And then I went to the men's section to pick up a couple things for my husband.
